            Finding your Purpose in Life

Many people are striving to be something they are not, always trying to get someplace else and never really finding happiness or their true purpose. All of us want to live with purpose and be happy or at least most us do. I know I’m certainly one of those people and I wouldn't mind betting that if you are reading these words you are too. Many people would like to know how to find their purpose in life so I thought I would share my perspective.

Coming into the world (believe it or not) you were aligned perfectly to your purpose if life. You had in one tiny cell everything that you needed for your physical journey, why would this not be so the rest as well. All the talent, skills and potential to live your true purpose you already have within you. As that young child you were not concerned with the way your you were going to look or what car the neighbours bought. You were perfectly aligned to your purpose and it was pulling you in that direction.

So innocent and free from interference; just your authentic self. Then we are surrounded by all these people and for many reasons such as parenting, education, peer or social acceptance many are encouraged to move away from this authentic self and become something else. Something that fits the mould or is going to ‘get you further in life’. Soon you are establishing another part of yourself in which may remain dominant as you are encouraged to disregard your calling in life and take the direction that others lead you in, edging out that perfect alignment you were born with.

As surely everyone knows better than you do what makes you happy and you cannot really have trust in who you are. So we must put trust something outside of ourselves for which begins a journey to a purpose or destination that doesn’t exist.

This part that is created tells us that who you are is what you have. Beginning with your toys, then money, houses and cars. Before we know it we have begun to associate our identity and purpose to our possessions assuming the more I have the better person I am and the more happier I will be. The down side to this is that if who you are is what you have, then as soon as something goes away a part of you and your happiness goes away also. I am what I have and what others think of me and if they don’t like me then there is something wrong with me. This is simply not true.

Sure prosperity, competition and possessions are important because of the world we live in, but don’t ignore that other part of you. Many people feel that deep within themselves they have a calling or purpose. To do something creative or make a contribution in some way, but for many different reasons keep putting it aside. There is no greater gift that you can give to others than following your purpose.

So don’t ignore that calling inside of you, that part that lets you know that you came here to create something amazing. What you feel is most likely that perfection you were born with letting you know that it’s still in there, if you just let go and allow its expression. You have just as much of a right to do that, as anyone else does. Don't let yourself wind up living someone else's life.

It's not something you have to force or be struggling with, as all you need to do is listen, trust it and let yourself be lived by it rather than control it. Imagine letting go of all that worry and frustration of trying to force everything into existence. This is not to say effort does not need to be taken or everything will go your way. However beginning to think and live from a place of purpose and creation as opposed to competition.

If you have move into this phase then you are thinking about fulfilling a purpose or desire that can only be felt by yourself and no-one else. For it is always created and never bought or won. Therefore you cannot ‘miss out’ or ‘get beaten to it’ as you are not in competition for something that someone else has. If you feel it and know it then getting ahead and all that other stuff takes a back seat to something that is far more powerful.

Who knows what is possible? It is only you, it always was.
